November 11: An aerosol-based product for extinguishing household fires has been developed by US-based First Alert.
The aerosol can enables consumers to apply the product to fires quickly and easily, without the more complex operation of conventional fire extinguishers. Because the aerosol can uses bag-on-valve technology, only the contents of the internal pouch are released, removing the risk of propellant accelerating the fire.
A patent-pending wide-spray nozzle design on the can produces a spray three times wider than regular domestic fire extinguishers, and the can has a discharge time of 32 seconds, around four times longer than standard extinguishers.
