April 26: Klaus Kleinfeld, 52, has been appointed chairman and chief executive of Alcoa, the aluminium product manufacturer and a leading supplier of sheet for canmaking.

Kleinfeld succeeds Alain Belda, 66, who already said he had planned to retire after more than 40 years. The leadership change took place at Alcoa’s annual meeting of shareholders on Friday.
