January 29: Novelis, the troubled world’s leading manufacturer of aluminium sheet for making beverage cans, could be sold following a dramatic increase in trading volumes in its stock.
Already, a company in India has been reported as being interested in paying up to $6 billion for Novelis, which since its spin off from Alcan two years ago has been struggling to run its rolled-products business while trying unsuccessfully to pass through rising aluminium prices to customers.
