March 1: Lighter and more convenient easy-open ends for canned foods will be one of the outcomes of canmaking company Impress acquiring the assets and intellectual property rights of Service Tool International (STI), the conversion press manufacturer that was liquidated last week.

As revealed on Friday, the auction for STI was won by Impress with a bid of US$1.96 million.

It bought the assets to “preserve the know-how, and competitive advantages inherent in the Impress designs and developments”.
