October 28: A revolutionary lightweight aluminium bottle that has just started being used commercially by a leading soft drinks producer in the US won the Can of the Year Award for Exal Corporation at The Canmaker Summit held in Dubai this week.

The 30cl C2C bottle has been under development by US-based Exal for almost ten years and compared the impact-extruded aluminium bottles already on the market and produced in limited numbers weighs more than a quarter less, providing significant material savings.

Delfin Gibert, chief executive of Exal Corporation (pictured right, above), said: “Truly I didn’t expect this but I am glad because I feel this is the future. It is the fulfilment of a dream I’ve had for ten years.”
