Canmaking firms in Malaysia have appealed to the government to reject a proposal by the country’s only tin mill for anti-dumping duties to be slapped on imported tinplate.

They say that if Persaduran Timah Malaysia Bhd (Perstima), which supplies most of the canmakers in Malaysia, gets the extra duties imposed, then prices of canned foods and drinks would have to rise.
