August 28: Capacity at brewer Modelo’s canmaking plant at Zacatecas in Mexico, one of the most highly productive in the world, is being doubled.
When the project is complete by the end of 2007, the plant is expected to be capable of producing around four billion aluminium cans a year, making it one of the biggest operations of its type worldwide.
Key to the expansion at the factory in central Mexico, close to the largest of Modelo’s seven breweries, is a second manufacturing line for which the main process equipment is being provided by Stolle Machinery.
