September 18: World-leading canmaker Crown Holdings is planning to build a fourth beverage can factory in Brazil, where demand for drinks cans last year reached 13.3 billion, up 8.5 percent year-on-year.
The news follows the July commissioning of its third plant in Brazil.
The latest $60 million plant, to make beverage can bodies, will be built by joint-venture subsidiary Crown Embalagens SA in southern Brazil and is expected to be operational in the second quarter of 2011 with a capacity of 700 million.
