Canmaking at a Nestlé Purina plant in North America was wound up last week after the pet food manufacturer sold the business to Silgan Containers.
The plant at the Half Moon Industrial Estate near Weirton, West Virginia, manufactured tinplate food cans for products such as Friskies.
