September 4: Paul Polman is to take over as Unilever’s group chief executive from the beginning of 2009, succeeding Patrick Cescau who is retiring.
Currently Nestlé’s executive vice president in charge of the Americas, Polman, 52, was previously group president, Europe, for Procter & Gamble for five years to 2005.
