Four additional beverage can lines that started production from April contributed to stronger second quarter results at Crown Holdings, the world’s largest canmaking company.

Higher global sales unit volumes, the pass through of higher raw material costs and currency translation lifted sales to US$2.28 billion, 13.5 percent up on the same period of 2010. Gross profit was up 10.7 percent to $371m while net profit increased 15 percent to $129m.
