September 6: Capacity for making aluminium can sheet is being increased by Novelis in Brazil where canmaking production has been rising at up to 16 percent year on year.
Novelis do Brasil is planning to invest US$7 million to increase aluminium sheet ingot production capacity at its Pindamonhangaba plant. It will include the addition of a new aluminium melting furnace and will contribute to a 12 percent increase in its aluminium sheet production capacity. Installation of the new furnace is expected to be completed by February 2008.
