Organic distributor expands with $2.9bn grocer acquisition

As part of a strategy to extend its consumer base, United Natural Foods (UNFI) has purchased US grocery firm Supervalu for $2.9 billion, with the organic food distributor claiming that this deal will extend its portfolio and lead to new opportunities.
