Peelable end machine business changes hands


April 3: One of the two leading manufacturers of machines for producing peelable membrane lids for cans is quitting and selling its business to its competitor.
Peelable lids, which offer consumers easier opening of cans, is one of the fastest growing sectors in the metal packaging world.
Swiss-based Rychiger, which has been growing strongly with sales of its filling and sealing machines for plastics pots, says the “technical synergies with peelable ends has faded.”
It is selling the business to fellow Swiss firm Soudronic, which has been growing sales of its Uniseal machines in the same sector, effectively from April 20.
