November 7: Ring-pull crowns of the type recently used by Coca-Cola on its aluminium bottles will be more widely available in Europe with the installation of two manufacturing lines by Pelliconi, the world’s largest manufacturer of metal crowns and owner of canmaking machinery company Cevolani.
Total capacity will be 800 million at the Ozzano factory near Bologna in Italy where production is expected to start early in 2009. The MaxiCrown features a scored metal cap and a plastics pull tab.
This follows a deal signed in 2007 between Pelliconi and MV Patent AB in Sweden to provide exclusive license rights to manufacture the MaxiCrown range of ring-pull caps in Europe.
