January 11: Aluminium production capacity in China is being shut down because of power shortages caused by cold weather.
At the Aluminum Corp of China’s plant at Guizhou capacity of 160,000 tons, half of the plant’s total aluminium capacity, was shut down, a plant official told Reuters this week.
In addition, Zunyi Aluminum had closed 30 percent of its 110,000 tons of capacity.
