Premier to close canning plant in UK

January 20: The Campbell’s Soup canning plant in the UK could be closed within a year as part of a restructuring of operations announced yesterday by its owner Premier Foods.
And as part of a growth plan Premier Foods wants to “invest significantly” at its plants elsewhere in the UK.
Acquired last year, the Campbell’s plant at Kings Lynn employs 245 and has been a landmark in the East Anglian town since 1959, producing canned Campbell’s soups, Homepride sauces and Fray Bentos pies.
