Price increases for fish cans

November 6: Leading canmaker Impress will increase the prices of its aluminium food and fish cans by “at least” 12 percent in January, it has announced.
The move follows rises in the price of aluminium that peaked at more than $3,000 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange in May and have remained about a third higher than the average for 2005.
Beverage can manufacturers have also been passing through aluminium cost increases to their customers in the beer and softy drinks industry.
Impress is the world leader in fish can manufacturing with operations in the US, Europe and Asia. Its latest venture is a new canmaking plant in Morocco.
