Print expansion for Shetron Sobemi Europe

January 31: Battery jacket printer Shetron Sobemi Europe is expanding the scope of its operations in Belgium with the installation of a six-colour decorating press.
The Metalstar2 press is being prepared by KBA-Metalprint in Germany for delivery to Shetron’s plant at Lint where it is expected to be commissioned in May.
The investment follows India-based Shetron Ltd’s board approval in November for the acquisition of the factory. It had previously been bought in 2005 from Impress by a group of investors lead by Shetron boss Diwakar Shetty, who owns a number of similar plants near Mumbai.
The plant is Europe’s largest independent manufacturer in battery jacket printing – serving leading brands such as Panasonic, Duracell (part of Gillette), Varta and Energiser – which shares technology with decoration on cans. Shetron also supplies printed sheet to leading canmakers such as Impress.
