Production starts at Can-Packs Russian plant

January 21: Polish-based canmaker Can-Pack has started production at its first beverage can plant in Russia.

Located some 100km north-west of Moscow at Wolokolamsk, the plant has initial capacity to make 1 billion aluminium cans a year in 33cl and 50cl sizes.

“We are during start up,” said operations chief Stanislaw Wasko, “but commercial cans will be available in February.” (updated Jan 26)
