Tata Steel Packaging is to stop production at its Trostre tin mill in South Wales for a week following what it describes as “significant reduction in UK demand for packaging steels”. But the canmaking industry says it is unaware of any decline.
The stoppage, for seven days from October 24, is being made so that rising stocks of tinplate in the supply chain can be adjusted.
