November 19: A significant improvement to the design of ring-pull food cans won the Supreme Gold award in the annual Best in Metal awards presented in London last week by the UK-based Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association (MPMA).
Crown Food Europe’s award-winning Easylift end being tested by Nestlé Purina Petcare Europe has a depression in the lid that enables consumers to better access the tab. It looks like a small change but it addresses one of the key criticisms of easy-open food cans: that less-able users find it awkward to get their fingers under the ring-pull.
