Record tinplate production for Rasselstein

October 15: Capacity for making tinplate in Europe far exceeds demand from the canmaking industry, but Germany’s only mill has been running at record output.
In the fiscal year ending September, Rasselstein’s mill at Andernach produced more than 1.5 million tonnes, a record.
“The fact that we have been able to go to the very limit of our capacity is due to demand from our customers for top-quality tinplate,” said director Karl-Ernst Friedrich. The company has been forced to turn down requests for more tinplate.
“Technically we cannot produce any more,” said Friedrich.
