October 12: Rexam’s beverage can operations in Russia have been accused of abusing their dominant position in the domestic market where they have a more than 90 percent share.
The accusations have been made by the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), which says that after investigations it found that Rexam charged different prices for the same types of cans to different customers. The FAS says it is taking proceedings under Part 1, Article 10 of the Law on Protection of Competition.
Rexam says that it has not received notice of any proceedings from the FAS. “We are aware that an audit report at the FAS has come out but cannot comment on it,” said Jonathan Thornton at Rexam’s headquarters in London.
