June 11: Rexam, the world’s biggest canmaker, confirmed this morning that it has agreed to buy Owens-Illinois Inc’s plastics packaging business for US$1.82 billion.
The acquisition of OI Plastic Products FTS Inc, a leading US manufacturer of rigid plastic healthcare packaging and plastic closure systems, will transform Rexam’s Plastic Packaging business, it said, creating leading positions in two important growth plastic packaging segments: healthcare packaging and closures.
