June 4: World leading drinks can manufacturer Rexam could soon increase its stake in the Central American market following its formation of a joint venture with Envases Universales, one of Mexico’s leading canmakers.
And it also has further expansion plans in Europe.
Rexam has invested US$24 million to buy a 50 percent share in Guatemala’s first beverage can plant, built by Envases Universales on a greenfield site at Amatitlan. With a capacity of almost one billion cans a year, the plant was completed by project management specialist Roeslein & Associates in December 2006.
