November 16: World leading beverage can manufacturer Rexam is planning to increase its capacity in Brazil by a further 1.7 billion cans by installing a second 800m line at its Pouso Alegre plant and speeding up the lines at its Jacarei and Recife plants that together will increase capacity by 900m cans.
With the Pouso Alegre plant already expected to come back on stream to meet the summer peak demand, it will mean that Rexam’s total installed capacity in South America will increase from 11bn in 2009 to 14bn cans by 2012.
