Rexam to cut beverage canmaking capacity in the US

July 30: In response to overcapacity in the US market for 12oz drinks cans, Rexam, the world’s largest beverage canmaking company today announced the closure of its plant at Forest Park in Georgia, and of a 12oz canmaking line at Longview, Texas.
Chief executive of Rexam Beverage Can North America, Harry Barto said, “The 12 oz can market has steadily declined due to a number of economic conditions and consumer trends. With these moves, we are doing our part in balancing capacity with demand, while further improving utilization of our existing operations and continuing our focus on delivering world-class quality products and services to customers.”
