Beverage can volumes have “exceeded expectations” since the beginning of July at global canmaking leader Rexam. But next year, “we will have to contend with lower GDP growth in several of our major markets,” said chief executive Graham Chipchase.

In its interim management statement, London-based Rexam revealed that in Europe, apart from Russia, beverage can volume growth was “in line with the first half” of 2011.
