September 26: Ball Packaging Europe today officially reopens its beverage can plant at Haßloch in Germany. The plant was completely rebuilt at a cost of 90m euros (US$113m) after a fire in April 2006 destroyed the two manufacturing lines.
Attending the ceremony is Kurt Beck, minister president of the Rhineland-Palatinate and Hans-Ulrich Ihlenfeld, mayor of Haßloch, who are being hosted by the chairman and president of US-based Ball Corporation David Hoover and John Hayes, chief executive of Ball Packaging Europe based at Ratingen in Germany.
