Russian beverage can plant meets rising demand

May 30: Production of beverage cans has started at Rexam’s new plant in the Chelyabinsk region of Russia.
Plans for the plant at Argayash in the Urals, Rexam’s second canmaking facility, were announced in August 2006. Initially it has one manufacturing line with a capacity of 700 million cans per year, representing an investment of $73million, but there are plans to expand capacity to meet continued market growth of more than 12 percent.
