July 24: Driven by higher sales of beverage cans in Europe, China and Brazil, and improved performance at its food and household packaging division, second-quarter sales at canmaker Ball Corporation rose 2.5 percent year-on-year to $2.08bn, while profits fell 5.6 percent to $100m, partly due to higher costs.
Chief operating officer John Hayes said: “Our operations are performing well in a difficult economic environment.
“We are focused on margin management, reducing costs and balancing supply with demand in all our packaging segments.”
