Shake up expected for aerosol can economics

German canmaking equipment manufacturer Schuler is expecting to revolutionise the economics of manufacturing aerosol cans with the launch of its Icon V-drive bodymaker at the Metpack show in Germany this week.

By using a combination of cupping, drawing and wall-ironing processes within a vertically-orientated tool set, Schuler claims material weight savings of a massive 40 percent compared with conventional impact extruded cans.
