Shrink-sleeving comes of age

The US canned craft beer market is vibrant, with brewers tapping into consumer demand for new tastes and experiences accompanied by attractive designs on their products. Since new beverages with fancy packaging designs are being introduced all the time, the sector has been increasingly using shrink-sleeve labels rather than lithographed cans because smaller economic batches are possible.

It is a sector of the beverage can business that mainstream canmakers are bound to be eyeing with interest.

Shrink-sleeve labels have become important for DWS Printing Associates, a family business in New York that traces its roots back to 1865 when the great grandfather of its current president, Tom Staib, set up a lithographic printing operation.
