February 27: Leading US food canmaker Silgan is expanding its international closures business with the acquisition of the metal vacuum closures operations of Grup Vemsa for 6.8 million euros (US$10m).
With sales of 20m euros ($30m), the Spanish-based business has two manufacturing plants: Vem de Tapas Metálicas, based north of Barcelona in Spain, and Vac Vem at Dongguan, in southern China.
