February 23: Leading US food can manufacturer Silgan is moving into Europe with the expected acquisition of Amcor’s White Cap closures business.
The move worth 230 million euros ($280m) will complete Silgan’s acquisition of metal closure businesses on both sides of the Atlantic that were originally run by Schmalbach-Lubeca. An agreement was signed yesterday.
Amcor White Cap based in Hanover supplies customers in the food and drinks business worldwide with closures worth about 246m euros ($300m) a year. It has 10 manufacturing plants in Europe, Asia Pacific and South America.
