March 16: New-style sleek aluminium cans are being used in the US for milk-based drinks following a collaboration between co-packer Dairy Farmers of America Inc (DFA) and canmaker Rexam.
Dairy and other low-acid products such as milk shakes require heat processing using cans that are designed for the job.
And the sleek cans, which are slimmer than conventional drinks cans, are being taken up by firms looking for a modern image for their products. They are offered in 9oz, 10.5oz, and 12oz sizes.
