November 21: The accelerating decline in sales of cans for soft drinks in the US had a marked effect on the total shipments for the third quarter, according to figures revealed by the Can Manufacturers Institute.
Shipments of cans for soft drinks were down 5.7 percent in the three months to the end of September, falling by almost a billion units to 15.9 billion, compared with the same period in 2007.
It follows a similar decline in sales of carbonated soft drinks in the US.
