September 14: Following a rise in demand for scrap packaging steel, Corus is opening two new recycling plants in the UK.
Corus Steel Packaging Recycling is setting up the plants in Pontypool, South Wales and Workington, Cumbria, to buy steel packaging from local authorities, waste collectors and community collection schemes throughout the UK.
The plants will then prepare and bale the packaging prior to sending it to Corus UK steel mills to be recycled into new products.
