Heineken is planning to launch a new ‘grippy’ can in the US for its imported beer later this month.

The aluminium can features, apart from a new label design, a so-called ‘tactile’ finish that has already been used in markets in Europe and South East Asia.

Early samples of the ‘tactile’ can were shown at the Cannex canmaking technology show in Las Vegas last May by US-based ink manufacturer INX International. The special finish provides for a pattern of spots on the printed sections of the can to provide differentiation.
