June 8: Rexam, the world’s biggest drinks can manufacturer, could boost its growing plastics business by almost 50 percent if it pulls off a deal to buy the plastics operations of Owens Illinois.
London-based Rexam confirmed today that it is in talks with the Ohio-based glass and plastics packaging producer following press reports.
“An acquisition, if agreed, would only occur on conditions which meet Rexam’s investment returns criteria and is likely to be funded from a combination of its glass disposal proceeds, debt and an element of equity,” it said in a release.
