Taller cans impress on the C-store shelf

The retailing power of the larger 16oz beverage can is being exploited in US with the launch of a new range of carbonated drinks from Jones Soda. And canmaking firms are shifting capacity to meet demand for the larger cans, along with wider ranges of other sizes.

The taller cans, which feature graphics submitted by fans of the Seattle-based brand, are said to be more attractive to retailers as it gives them “a premium soda offering in a package that’s more appropriate for their shelving”, according to Jones Soda.
