Thinner tinplate for drawn lightweight cans

April 23: An ultra-thin tinplate said to represent a new benchmark for deep-drawn containers is the star attraction at steelmaker Rasselstein.
Gauges of 0.10mm and less are on offer, providing savings in material per package and cost and weight advantages for customers. Rasselstein adds that the thinner gauges are suitable for manufacturing three-piece cans.
Executive board chairman Dr Ulrich Roeske told The Canmaker: “Our aim is to offer our customers exactly the right steel grades and qualities they need to match the performance requirements of their specific packaging applications.”
