Tin mills in US to be sold by Severstal

Two tinplate mills that supply the canmaking industry are involved in the sale of Severstal’s North American steelmaking operations to The Renco Group.

Russian-owned Severstal, one of the world’s leading steelmakers, agreed last week to sell its facilities at Warren, Ohio; Wheeling, West Virginia; and Sparrows Point, Maryland for US$542 million in cash, secured notes and repayment of debt, plus other liabilities totalling $650m.
