Toyo Seikan’s president said the canmaker would invest up to JPY350bn in overseas markets over five years as it confirmed financial results for 2025 in a briefing to investors released today (15 June).
The canmaker posted sales of JPY963.2 billion (USD6.1bn) for the 2025 financial year with operating income rising 51.8% year-on-year to JPY52bn.
The increases were attributed to product price rises in the packaging business and a recovery in engineering operations in North America.
Takuji Nakamura, president of Toyo Seikan Group Holdings, commented: “We achieved growth in both sales and profit and also met the target operating income under the Medium-Term Management Plan 2025.
“This accomplishment was supported by product price hikes mainly for packaging products, a recovery in overseas engineering operations, which suffered sluggish performance in the previous year, and the full-year contribution of Premier Centre Group SDN. BHD. (PCG), a Malaysian subsidiary engaged in contract filling of home and personal care products.”
In light of the uncertain outlook for 2026 with the Middle East conflict creating disruption in the industry, Toyo Seikan has devised a new medium-term management plan, called “Open Up! 2030” to drive growth and innovations for the rest of the decade.
Nakamura added: “We will continue to develop and offer products and services that support diverse lifestyles and are environmentally friendly.
“We will also invest as much as JPY350bn during the five years in overseas operations and new businesses to drive the expansion of these growth areas, as well as in domestic facilities to address labour shortages and replace ageing equipment for higher efficiency and earning power.”
