Trostre tin mill to close for two weeks

March 9: Tinplate manufacturer Corus Packaging Plus is closing its mill in South Wales for two weeks because it needs to cut back on its export order book, it says.
Workers at the Trostre tinplate mill near Llanelli were angered at the announcement last week because they would be put on half pay for the two weeks from 1 April.
And they fear that the move could be a prelude to the closure of the mill in the wake of parent company Corus being acquired by Tata Steel UK in a deal worth £5.75 billion (US$11.2bn).
