March 10: The UK market for drinks cans, the biggest in Europe, grew by 2.9 percent last year to 8.78 billion, against the region’s overall decline of 2.4 percent.
Figures revealed by the industry body Beverage Can Makers Europe show that growth in the UK was driven by cans used for soft drinks, a market that rose by 12.3 percent to 4.32 billion cans. In contrast, shipments of cans for beer fell by 20 percent to 4.46bn.
