The UK government minister responsible for environment, food and rural affairs (Defra) visited Crown’s beverage can plant near Carlisle this week to find out about how the metal packaging industry is managing its processes and resources efficiently.
Lord Henley was being hosted by the Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association, whose director Nick Mullen said: “The metal packaging industry has a great story to tell regarding resource efficiency with investment over many years in making cans lighter while retaining their strength and robustness.”
