June 9: The plight of polar bears struggling to live on shrinking glaciers has become a commonly-used illustration of the effects of global warming – and has now been depicted using food cans for the annual Canstruction competition.
The structure was titled ‘An UnBEARable Truth’ and was declared the Jurors’ Favourite at the international Canstruction awards.
The polar bear structure was designed by Butler Rogers Baskett Architects of New York, and included 9,440 cans of food including peas, tuna, albacore and kidney beans.
