March 27: A US-based association established to promote the canmaking industry has changed its name to The North American Metal Packaging Alliance (Nampa).
Founded in 1993 as The Inter-Industry Group for Light Metal Packaging, Nampa counts 16 companies and trade organizations as members – Alcoa, Novelis, Dow, Hexion, Huntsman, ICI, INX, PPG, Valspar, Ball, Crown, Silgan, Heinz, Coca-Cola, the American Beverage Association and the Can Manufacturers Institute.
The new name is said to reflect a broader scope of the industry’s focus and initiatives.
